Victoria Pendleton in Shaftsbury

After a long hard search for a comment that was actually printable and didn’t involve a quip like ‘trackies can’t get up hills’ we settle on the fairly boring option of reporting that Victoria Pendleton has been spotted recently recreating the famous 1973 advert for Hovis on Gold Hill in Shaftsbury. Chances are this was done some time ago, seeing as Gold Hill has been impassable for well over a week now.

Ms Pendleton is apparently the ‘new Hovis girl on a bike’, which is news for those of us unaware that there was an old Hovis girl on a bike and is hoping  to encourage healthy eating as part of an active lifestyle or something.

The same hill saw action as the finish of a stage in the 2005 Tour of Wessex, won by Rob Hurd who knows a thing or two about steep cobbled climbs.
